Patriots Free Agent Wish List

Here are Twelve things I want to see the Patriots do in Free Agency. I would love to put names on here like Mario Williams and Mike Wallace but I'm not sure those are moves the Patriots are likely to make, I tried to keep this relatively realistic.

1. Resign WR Wes Welker - I would only Resign Welker for the right Price. I think he is worth around 7 million a year. I would not pay him more than that but the Patriots do need him back next year. So worst case let him play under the Franchise Tag and Pay him 9.5 million for 1 year.

2. Resign RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis - I think the Patriots can get BJGE back on short money. He will only be filling a Role so I wouldn't over pay for him. I hope and believe that Stevan Ridley will assume the Starting RB Job next season but Benny will be the Perfect compliment for short yardage and goal line situations.

3. Resign C Dan Connolly - I chose Connolly over Koppen because he is Younger and Played just as well last season. The Patriots might take a young C in the Draft but for now I'd resign Connolly for the next couple of years.

4. Sign WR Brandon Lloyd - Lloyd is exactly what the Patriots have been looking for over the last couple years. A WR who has speed and is a deep threat that also knows the system and is a smart football player. Lloyd excelled in Josh McDaniels system in both Denver and St. Louis.

5. Sign an Offensive Lineman (or two) - You name him. I don't really care who just add some depth to the O Line. They don't even need to be big names. If Matt Light Retires the Patriots will be fine on the starting line with Solder and Vollmer but what if Vollmer gets hurt again? They need Depth. One Interior Lineman to keep an eye on is former Patriots and Broncos G Russ  Hochstein. He Played under McDaniels in both Places.

6. Resign DE Mark Anderson - Mark fit beautifully in Belichick's Defense as a situational Pass Rusher and then when Carter got hurt he filled in Great as the starting DE. I believe even if the Patriots upgrade at DE in the Draft they need Anderson back for situational Plays. He is a tremendous pass rusher.

7. Sign CB Tracy Porter (or CB Cortland Finnegan) - I would absolutely Love Finnegan but his Price Tag might be too much for the Patriots so my alternative is Saints CB Tracy Porter. He is a Playmaking Corner that Reminds me of Asante Samuel. He would really help the Patriots secondary.

8. Sign OLB Manny Lawson - Lawson is very versatile, he has played in a 3-4 and 4-3 Defense at both DE and OLB. He fits what the Patriots look for in an OLB. He is inconsistent at times which may lead to a cheaper price tag and more likely chance he ends up in New England.

9. Resign S James Ihedigbo - Ihedigbo got exposed at times this past season while playing safety but it was not his fault. He is a situational safety who got put into a starting spot due to injuries. He is better then people realize. He is a phenomenal Special Teams Player.

10. Sign WR/KR Ted Ginn Jr. - I know this sounds a little Crazy and yes I'm an Ohio State Fan but hear me out. Ted Ginn is not a great WR but he can certainly be a solid #5 WR and the Biggest reason I want him is he is an excellent Kick Returner. He is without question one of the Top 10 return men in the NFL. He can be had for little money and would make a huge difference on the Patriots 29th Ranked Kick Return Unit.

11. Sign S Thomas DeCoud - DeCoud is a solid Safety who is good against the Run and good against the Pass. If the Patriots plan to leave McCourty at Safety they may not need to sign another Safety but if the plan on moving him back to Corner to at least start 2012 they need to sign one and DeCoud is a good fit.

12. Restructure WR Chad Ochocinco - I have no problem bringing back Ochocinco to compete for the #4 or #5 WR spot as long as it is for a million or less. He is due to make 3 million and I would not bring him back on that salary. He could Improve with a full offseason so he might be worth at least bringing to camp but at close to the veterans minimum.

Stidham Time

I’m done with Cam Newton. If I’m going to be completely honest, I was done with Cam Newton after those back to back losses to Denver and San Francisco in October. But, over the next four games he was decent and the team started to win so I bit my tongue and accept him as the starting QB. But now he’s on a streak of three of the worst games I’ve ever seen a QB play and his piss poor play throughout the year has all but cost the Patriots a chance at a playoffs. Over the last three games he has posted a QB rating of 23.6, 87.4 and 53.9. In the game where he posted the 87.4, he had 69 yards passing. In those three games he had just one passing touchdown to three interceptions while completing just 56% of his passes. Long story short, he can’t throw the football.  Sure, he’s made some plays with his legs and has scored a bunch of rushing touchdowns but that’s not what you’re looking for from your QB. It’s certainly not what I’m looking for. I want a QB who can make plays with his arm. I wan

Patriots Free Agent Wish List

Here's a list of NFL free agents I would love to see the Patriots target in free agency. This is more of a wish list than a list of realistic possibilities. I'd be happy if the Patriots signed just a few of these players.  1. Donte Whitner, S - Love me some Whitner. This Ohio State Buckeye is a hard hitting Safety who would bring instant physicality to the Patriots D. He is the perfect compliment to McCourty. He would also bring a veteran presence and leadership.  2. Eric Decker, WR - It's time to give Tom Brady a legit playmaking outside receiver. Some would argue Decker isn't even that but I'm not one of them. He is a big physical receiver who makes explosive plays down field. He would fit in perfect here and remember Josh McDaniels drafted Decker in Denver.   3. Aqib Talib, CB - This is the Patriots biggest free agent this year and they must find a way to resign him. When Talib is healthy he is a difference maker on this Defense.  4. Vonte Davis, CB - If the Patr

On the Bubble

With the Patriots heading to Detroit this Saturday for their third preseason game there a few players who are in need of a big game to earn themselves a roster spot. This is one of the deepest teams the Patriots have ever had and spots are limited. Here's a list of a few guys who I think are on the bubble right now and will need to do some serious work to make this team. 1. Brandon Tate, WR: With the new Kickoff Rule in the NFL this season it seems like Brandon Tate's value to this team is way down. He was a top 5 Kick Returner in the NFL last year but this year he may not even be needed as kick returns will be limited. He is a much better Kick Returner then Wide Receiver and because he has been injured most of camp he hasn't been able to improve his Wide Receiver skills. Also the emergence of Taylor Price doesn't help either. Brandon Tate is going to have to have a couple big games, receiving not returning, to secure a spot on this team. 2. Sammy Morris, RB: I
