Ten Bold Predictions for the 2011 New England Patriots

1. Jerod Mayo will Win the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award

After a season in which Mayo led the NFL in Tackles the Patriots are expanding his role in 2011 allowing him to get after the Quarterback more and make big plays. I expect him to once again put up big tackle numbers but also add in some sacks and turnovers which will make him the Best Defensive Player in the NFL.

2. The Patriots will Sweep the New York Jets in the Regular Season

The Patriots have lost in New York in each of the last two seasons, mostly because of an inefficient Offense. This time around I expect Tom Brady and the Offense to come out looking to prove they can score on this Defense in New York. At home I don't worry about the Patriots at all.

3. Tom Brady will Throw 52 Touchdown Passes

Tom Brady holds the record for Touchdowns in a Season with 50 back in 2007. This season he has more weapons than he did in 2007. He has Welker, Ochocinco, Branch, Hernandez, Gronkowski, and Woodhead out of the Backfield to work with this season which I think is the Best Receiving Core he has had in his entire career.

4. The Patriots Defense will Lead the NFL in Sacks

The Additions of Andre Carter, Albert Haynesworth, and Shaun Ellis in addition to the Switch to a more Aggressive 4-3 Defense should allow the Patriots to rack up the sacks in 2011. I can see a guy like Carter getting as many as 11 himself. I look at other young guys like Jermaine Cunningham and Kyle Love plus Veterans like Mark Anderson and Mike Wright and the Patriots should be able to create a lot of Presser from the Front Line.

5. Pat Chung will be selected to the Pro Bowl

Not really going out on a limb here figuring Meriweather made it the last two seasons and you kinda gotta figure Chung will just simply replace him on the AFC Roster this year but the difference in my opinion is while Meriweather might not have really deserved it, I think Chung will actually be worthy of the selection. I expect a big year from Chung.

6. Chad Ochocinco will have 80 Receptions

A lot of people are only expecting somewhere from 50-60 catches from Ochocinco this season but I think once he gets more and more comfortable in this Offense you'll see his numbers sky rocket. I could see a slow start but by mid season I think Ocho will be catching 6 or 7 balls a game.

7. The Patriots will Lose to the Oakland Raiders

A number of factors to consider here. First off I think the Raiders are gonna be a surprise Team in 2011 and actually go 9-7 and make the Playoffs, so this game won't be easy. Second, It seems every year the Patriots Lose to a Team they are supposed to beat (Cleveland in '10, Miami in '09, Miami in 08). Third, It's a Road game and to make it even worse it's a West Coast Game.

8. BenJarvus Green-Ellis will NOT rush for 1,000 yards

I think Benny's Touchdown numbers will still be up there but I tink his yards are gonna go down because this year the Patriots wil have a full season of Woody to take some more carries. Also the additions of Rookie Backs Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley should take away from some of Benny's Touches. I would still bet he gets 11-13 Touchdowns but he will only get like 850 yards in 2011.

9. Aaron Hernandez will have over 1,000 Yards Receiving

I expect Big things out of Hernandez this season. He seems to me like a combination of Wes Welker and Rob Gronkowski, if that makes any sense. He is pretty much a slot receiver but is a Tight End. I think he will become Brady's security blanket this season and with his speed and moves he puts on Defenders I could easily see him catching 72 passes and averaging 14 yards per catch giving him just over 1,000 yards.

10. The Patriots will Win Super Bowl XLVI

The Patriots will Beat the Atlanta Falcons 38-31 in Super Bowl XLVI. This will be an Instant Classic, a High Flying Shootout. The game will be played in the Dome in Indianapolis and both teams are led by their Explosive Offenses, there's no doubt we're getting a Shootout. I expect a back and fourth game that will see Tom Brady lead the Patriots on a Go ahead Game Winning Touchdown Drive in the final minutes of the Game. Tom Brady will be named the games MVP.

The U Scandal

Here we go again, another Major College Football Scandal and this time it's the U. Am I supposed to be surprised? First it was USC, then Ohio State, and now Miami. I think it's becoming a realization that every Big Time Program was Receiving Benifits. College Football is a cesspool for this kind of Shit. As for Miami it's self, this comes as no shock. Think about the Life Style down there, and the Players that attended the U. A lot of the Players that went to the U grew up in Less Fortunate situations and weren't going to pass up Money when giving the opportunity. Then there's the Life Style, have you ever been to Miami? When your down there you can't help but wanna Party, Drink, hit up the Strip Clubs, hang out on the Yachts, Live it up on South Beach. It's pretty obvious this Shit was going down and you know what, it's not a big deal to me. I don't blame those kids for wanting to Live it up. College Athletes should get paid anyways but we

On the Bubble

With the Patriots heading to Detroit this Saturday for their third preseason game there a few players who are in need of a big game to earn themselves a roster spot. This is one of the deepest teams the Patriots have ever had and spots are limited. Here's a list of a few guys who I think are on the bubble right now and will need to do some serious work to make this team. 1. Brandon Tate, WR: With the new Kickoff Rule in the NFL this season it seems like Brandon Tate's value to this team is way down. He was a top 5 Kick Returner in the NFL last year but this year he may not even be needed as kick returns will be limited. He is a much better Kick Returner then Wide Receiver and because he has been injured most of camp he hasn't been able to improve his Wide Receiver skills. Also the emergence of Taylor Price doesn't help either. Brandon Tate is going to have to have a couple big games, receiving not returning, to secure a spot on this team. 2. Sammy Morris, RB: I

Stidham Time

I’m done with Cam Newton. If I’m going to be completely honest, I was done with Cam Newton after those back to back losses to Denver and San Francisco in October. But, over the next four games he was decent and the team started to win so I bit my tongue and accept him as the starting QB. But now he’s on a streak of three of the worst games I’ve ever seen a QB play and his piss poor play throughout the year has all but cost the Patriots a chance at a playoffs. Over the last three games he has posted a QB rating of 23.6, 87.4 and 53.9. In the game where he posted the 87.4, he had 69 yards passing. In those three games he had just one passing touchdown to three interceptions while completing just 56% of his passes. Long story short, he can’t throw the football.  Sure, he’s made some plays with his legs and has scored a bunch of rushing touchdowns but that’s not what you’re looking for from your QB. It’s certainly not what I’m looking for. I want a QB who can make plays with his arm. I wan
