Patriots Free Agent Targets

Here's my List of the Top 10 Players I would like to see the Patriots Target this Offseason. I am not including their own Free Agents in the List but I will tell you which of their own Players I would Like to see retained.

1. CB Cortland Finnegan, Tennessee - One of the Most Physical Defensive Backs in the NFL. It's no secret the Patriots need help in the secondary and Finnegan would be a Huge Addition. He can shutdown any teams #1 WR. In my opinion he is one of the Best CB in the NFL.

2. WR Marquise Colston, New Orleans - It's clear the Patriots need a Deep Threat at WR to open up this Offense and in my opinion Colston is the Best on the Market. He is also 6'4" and physical. An ideal WR that Tom Brady needs.

3. WR Brandon Lloyd, St. Louis - Probably the Best Fit at WR for the Patriots. Lloyd has had previous success in Josh McDaniels' system. A speedster who will help stretch the field for the Patriots Offense.

4. WR Reggie Wayne, Indianapolis - Veteran WR who still has something left in the Tank. Unlike Ochocinco for example, Wayne is smart and will pick up the Offense.

5. CB Brent Grimes, Atlanta - Another physical CB who can lock down a teams #1 WR and really help the Patriots Secondary.

6. S Tyvon Branch, Oakland - If McCourty returns to CB the Patriots will need another S and I love Branch. He is excellent against the run but is also extremely solid in Coverage. Him and Chung would be a Perfect pairing at Safety.

7. DE Robert Mathis, Indianapolis - The Patriots need a Pass Rushing DE who can be just good enough against the Run and Mathis fits the bill. I look at Mathis as a slightly better version of Andre Carter.

8. OLB Anthony Spencer, Dallas - The Patriots need an upgrade at OLB especially if the Patriots play more 3-4 next season and wanna leave Spikes and Mayo on the Inside. Spencer is a veteran who has played in both 3-4 and 4-3 Defenses and can get after the QB.

9. OLB Ahmad Brooks, San Francisco - Brooks is a solid Pass Rushing OLB. He fits the mold of what Belichick likes out of his OLB position.

10. WR Mario Manningham, New York - As we saw first hand here in New England Manningham makes big plays in big Games. He might not be a #1 WR but he is a very good #2.

Just missed the Cut: WR Pierre Garcon (IND), CB Tracy Porter (NO), S Laron Landry (WAS), DE John Abraham (ATL), S Michael Griffin (TEN)

Patriots Free Agents I would like to see back: RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis, DE Mark Anderson, WR Wes Welker, WR Deion Branch, C Dan Connolly, S James Ihedigbo

A few Players I would not wanna see the Patriots go after: WR DeSean Jackson (PHI), WR Stevie Johnson (BUF), CB Rashean Mathis (JAX), OLB Manny Lawson (CIN), OLB Jarret Johnson (BAL)

Patriots Mock Draft

Round 1 29. Robert Woods, WR, USC - I've been saying Woods will be this pick for weeks. It seems like the Patriots really like this kid. He is a smart receiver coming from a sophisticated offense at USC. Polished route runner with great hands. He's a playmaker and will start from day 1 with the Patriots. Round 2 59. Alex Okafor, DE, Texas - Okafor was one of the best pass rushers in college football last year recording 12.5. He is very athletic and can get after the QB but he is also solid against the run. He even moved inside and played a little DT at Texas. He is expeted to be a left DE in the NFL which would be perfect opposite Chandler Jones. Round 3 91. Tyrann Mathieu, CB/S, LSU - A lot of baggage comes with Mathieu but the Patriots seem very interested. He has met with Patriots multiple times. Belichick has no problem taking pot guys who slip. He is a playmaker on the field. He is versatile and has a swagger the Patriots Defense could use. Round 7 226. Jos...

2013 NFL Draft - Top 10 Sleepers

1. Stedman Bailey, WR, West Virginia - Bailey is a terrific route runner and reads coverages well. He has great hands and makes some amazing catches. He lacks elite speed but is quick, especially off the snap. He is also on the shorter side at 5'10". (Projected 3rd Round Selection) 2. Corey Lemonier, OLB, Auburn - Lemonier is a terrific pass rusher. He needs to add some strength to improve his run defense but he can sure get after the QB. He could play some DE but it likely an OLB at the next level. (Projected 3rd Round Selection) 3. John Simon, DE, Ohio State - Simon has a great work ethic and is a tremendous leader on and off the football field. He is a solid pass rusher and is very versatile, he can lineup at DE or OLB. (Projected 3rd-4th Round Selection) 4. Kiko Alonso, LB, Oregon - Kiko has some red flags but he is an incredible athlete. He can play every LB position, inside or outside. He is excellent in coverage. (Projected 3rd Round Selection) 5. Phillip Thoma...
